As members of the police force, we're all integral to this foreign family we've been dropped into. We come from different worlds - too many to count for a cop like me who grew up reading and watching about the kind of things that are possible in the confines of this place. Multi-dimensional nexus, snowglobe crosspoint; whatever you wanna call it. There's no clear cut reason for anyone being brought here and that makes this organization all the more important.

The force isn't legally backed, seeing as there is no existing legal system. We're disorganized, we don't communicate as well as we could and we're fighting a losing battle. We're confused, we're tired and we're going to keep running in place if we keep on like this.

Having said all of that, I see a lot of good people around me at the offices. Some of us are officers, some are other skilled professionals but we're all coworkers. Family. And we've got plenty more family - people we want to protect and keep safe so that they might get that golden ticket to go home. We're all guests in the same hell hole, so we might as well pull together and make something good out of it.

Backpatting over; let's go with the brutal truth. We're out any kind of upper staff, we have disorganized communications, I'm pretty sure whatever holding cells we have wouldn't even faze one of every two people in the City and we're overwhelmed in cold cases. What the hell are we supposed to do here, guys? I'm sick and tired of waiting around while curses and criminals walk all over us. Things have to change, and it has to start now. I'm willing to make some of those changes, but I can't do it alone.

Ooooh Beckett. You make me all warm and tingly when you take control like that.

[He clears his throat and gets down to business]

Communications we can take care of. We need to have rules. You call if you're going to be later than ten minutes or if your plans change--okay so those are phone rules for Alexis but it's the same concept.

Holding cells--if I were writing a book about it, I'd contact an expert. In a City like this, we're bound to have experts in the weird that are willing to talk to us. At least one or two people.

As far as Cold Cases go, it sounds like we all need to take home some light reading at night.

[Now he's singing this]

Good to see you just jumping back in. And what kind of rules do you propose?

We do, and a few of them work with the police already. Now, whether they're being utilized is another factor entirely.

The cold cases are done, I think. Light reading or not, most of them are tapped out on evidence, motives and suspects.

I'm thinking checking in every hour isn't going to be helpful. More of when you hear information, let the rest of us know. Regardless of how inconsequential you think it might be. I think there's too much 'oh that's not important' going on and not enough of us discussing the details that we think aren't important.

Interview them? Ask for their particular suggestions? Start a database with their information so that we've got a go-to source to deal with all the things that go bump in the City. They could work up files for us.

Sometimes a fresh start is the best thing.

Well, there's good communication and too much. What about the database? As long as everyone keeps their files updated, and they're accessible to those with clearance, that might be all right.

We're definitely going to start getting the ball rolling on that, I agree. Especially with this new case -- you should check out the information brought up about some of the suspects of the recent murders. Maybe you've got some insight on the possible cannibalism.

I hate to say it but we have to concern ourselves with what we can affect, instead of trying to fix things that we're never going to be able to.

Database would work. I think it's important we all talk and exchange ideas on the cases though. Sometimes that's how we see things that we don't think are important but end up breaking the case.

Ooooh. You do know the way straight to my heart, Beckett. Cannibalism and recent murders but really, you had me at cannibalism.

I'd agree.

Yeah, yeah, talking. I guess you're right, but like I said; too much discussion can be just as detrimental. If it's not focused it's useless to us. I'll make mention of it, though. We can't really operate like a typical force without the necessary manpower and resources.

You should go talk to Mamoru, then. He posted to the network yesterday with some interesting details and I'm sure he wouldn't say no to some outside input.

I'll go talk to him now.

*sob* so very late, I'm sorry.

I'll help out where I can, Kate, but I'm really not one for structured organizations.

Everyone's just doing their best given the circumstances, it's all we can ask, and it's definitely better than nothing. I hope that still includes your duties as Intel Head.

Until someone better qualified comes around, yeah. I wouldn't leave everyone in the lurch but just don't expect too much in the way of paperwork from me.
