This was more than serious. Ray had been one of the angriest when they'd had to release Saxon. She couldn't believe that act was so believable.

"What exactly do you remember, Ken? I hate to ask, but this is a serious accusation you're giving me."

"I know it is and I wouldn't just fuck around with someone's life like this if I wasn't sure of what I remembered."

The brunette rubbed his hand along the back of his neck, scowling.

"I was out for a run and noticed him along the way. I stopped for a sec, just small talk. A few minutes in, he called me a poofter and I've heard that crap outta his mouth enough to know what he meant by that. Hell, Mamoru and I never made a point to hide our relationship around here, but he started in on that, calling me a fag and shit. He even asked me if all Japs took it up the ass like that, or just 'poofters like me'."

Ken paused, shaking his head as if to clear it.

"Not gonna lie. I got pissed off because that shit just isn't right, but he kept on. I told him to fuck off and started to walk away, but he hit me in the back of the head. When I turned around, I heard a gunshot and that's the last thing I remember, other than waking up dead."

She can't say that it doesn't sound like Ray, though it seems like an unusually proactive and enraged version of him. Kate was pretty sure she'd only ever heard him mouth off and throw a punch or three.

"Okay," she said as she wrote down Ken's witness account. "We'll need to open up the case again, you'll need to give your account so we can run it by the old one. Get as much as you can remember in detail down in a report - date, times, everything."
