This is Det-- Acting Chief Kate Beckett speaking on behalf of the police department. On the afternoon of March 16, Mr. Harold Saxon, alias The Master, was arrested on charges of murder.

He has been released from custody this morning at 8:00am. He is cleared of all charges after questioning has lead us to no substantial evidence in his involvement of either the organ case or the rash of murders a few weeks ago. His activities don't constitute exactly as breaking any laws, as he didn't commit cannibalism and his state at the time of apprehension could not be qualified as lucid. However, he was in a lucid state at the time of release.

We are unable to give more detail, as the case is still under investigation, however we have gained intel and information will be released as we become confident the suspects we do have are verifiable. Questions after his whereabouts or doings will not be entertained, as well as details about the case ongoing. If anyone has any tips, please make use of the police hotline.

In addition, I would like to apologize to the victims of the recent cases and the City at large for our management of the case as a whole. I can't say enough how heinous and unforgivable the crimes that have been perpetrated on those of you who have fallen victim to them are, and all of us at the police department have you in our thoughts. Moving forward, we will be implementing and putting into place regulations and programs to mitigate what crime we can follow through the course of justice. This is in addition to the continuing investigation of these crimes.

I hear rumors there used to be an escort service. We're going to be implementing it again, in order to try to prevent this garbage from happening again. It's the Master. If you find a gun at a crime scene, but cannot link its involvement to the crime, do you merely discard it? Moreover, whether the Master was lucid at the time or not is immaterial; without a rigorous psychoanalysis to ensure there will be no reprise of his usual activities, it is irresponsible on your part to release him.

Thank you for your seemingly experience input. I can assure you that we covered everything we could in order to gather evidence enough to prosecute him. The weekend has been a very long one for my officers, and even if a legal system was in place in the City, we wouldn't have enough to proceed with a case.

Many, but if he's regained his full faculties, it's highly likely that any surveillance system I devise will be detected.

My real fear is that the friends he has made will see this as a vindication of his innocence. I worry for them.

I worry for the City. I'm not sure what we could have done had we had enough evidence to prosecute. There's no legal system, and we don't have the equipment to hold him anyway.

It was sloppy work for nothing. Next time, we make sure of anything before we bring anyone in.

But he did remove flesh from the bones with his teeth and/or gnawed on the bones of at least one of the victims. Doesn't that constitute as cannibalism?

I think it would be wise to start paying more attention to the way in which we handle future cases, yes.

As it seems the majority defines it, cannibalism is the practice of eating the flesh of your own kind. Mr. Saxon was witnessed eating the flesh of a human and as pained as I am to say it, because he is not human, it doesn't apply.
