You could install security locks on your office door. It defeats the open-door policy and he would likely find a way in regardless, but it would send a strong nonverbal message.

Kate, life is a losing battle for all of us. You aren't special in that aspect. I'm a best selling crime author. Occasionally I get packages at my doorway that the fire department has to come get. Narrow minded idiots argue that my books teach criminals how to 'get away' with it. Obviously they've never read my endings. It's only a matter of time before someone comes after me no matter what.

Yeah, it is Castle. But here? It's not just serial killers. It's vampires, giant spiders, deities that kidnap children.

At home, there's room to bend, to be flexible and maybe-- maybe there it'll be this way someday. [SIGH.] Flowers today, and tomorrow the deities decide they don't like the police department anymore and we're fried by giant lasers.
