20th arrest; feathers fallen from drapes fold her into pieces tied up and lace

Missing

Alexis Castle
5'6", red hair, blue eyes
Last seen in jeans and t-shirt

A seventeen-year-old girl named Alexis Castle went missing two days ago, July 7 at about 11PM. So far, we've been unable to locate her with the small search party we'd put together. A second search party is gathering together tomorrow morning at eight in front of the precinct and we could use a lot more volunteers. In fact, I'm begging for more. Her father, Rick, her friend, Blue and I will be passing out flyers with her photo and other information for those willing to help us in the search.

Otherwise, this is a photo of her for those of you who are unable to help us look for her. If you see her, please call one of the three people mentioned before. Alexis is very important to her family, and she's from a world where magic and science fiction are just in books. She's made some of you free cookies and probably served you coffee at some point, said kind words to you when things weren't going well. She probably wouldn't like me saying it, but she's just a child, and she needs our help.

And no. She is not in the Hall.

[ooc: Search party put-together for Lazslo's Kidnapping Plot. Other posts: Alexis' initial disappearance, her experiment log, Rick noticing her missing. OOC post #1, OOC post #2. Volunteers are welcome, though we won't be finding Alexis in the City; Beckett will just be extremely grateful! It's still just before the 10th in my timezone, so please no fourth wall shenanigans here, thank you. :)]

I'm gonna go, I've got someone to partner Underground. I'll let you know if I find anything.

action, wee!

[Alexis isn't her own, but Beckett would sacrifice almost anything to find her at this point. Trusting Sylar is a mix of what he's shown her so far, always being around to help; but she thinks he must also be the type of person that won't stop her if she shoots Alexis' kidnapper's head off.

She's jogging down the street toward him about 5 minutes after he's arrived, police vest on and weapons strapped to every available area. Having a couple of supernatural savvy cops on the team means she's picked up a few things: silver bullets, a small tranq gun and this time, a sawed-off.]

Sorry to keep you waiting. Ready?

Be careful, Kate. Please. I don't want to lose any more.

You haven't lost yet, Rick. And I'm going to make sure you don't. I'll be okay, I have help.

All right, don't worry. We'll find 'er. Don't need t'get your knickers in a twist over everythin' I say.

[It's a power he puts to good! Occasionally.]

[He gives her a small, nearly-mirthless smile as she approaches, as that's what the situation calls for. He nods at her arrival.]

Very ready. And so are you, it looks like. [he doesn't have any outward signs he's going to do anything more than have a stroll in the park- but that's fairly standard. He is wearing all black, but that's about 40% of his wardrobe.]

I didn't get anything from my contacts. Of course, they're fairly secretive, even with me, but I don't think anyone I know is involved. I thought I'd check into the caves. Occasionally, predators end up in them and make them hiding places. I'd come across them as I was heading to the Clock.

[he heads down and starts in the direction of the deeper caves. That's when he seems to remember something] Oh- keep an ear out for monsters. I should be able to handle them, but there's quite a few down here.

You twisted your freakin-- knickers first.

[It's a distraction she'll take right now, so yes. Even if it may not seem that way, it's good this time.]

Okay. Thank you.

You're the one who was actin' like I thought there was a choice in it. Ain't my fault you're gettin' so worked up over this.

[That does make her pause, the lack of anything in his possession. She's heard of what he can do, and imagined what it might be like, but getting ready to enter hell with him empty handed is giving her new perspective, definitely.]

At least we know something, even if it's just things to eliminate.

[She's disappointed to hear that he's got nothing, but in a sick way that she wants to ignore, she's somehow relieved. She's pissed her fair share of people off as a cop and as Chief and if Alexis had been kidnapped in retaliation, she might never forgive herself.]

I've got your back. [He'll hear that sawed-off cock behind him as she follows him down.]

Just shut up, Ray. You can't imagine what this is like for us. Just shut up and go look for her.

[identity profile] makesfolktalky.livejournal.com 2010-07-12 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
No. I can't. An' that's prob'ly a good thing, 'cause with the way you're actin' now you ain't gonna be thinkin' straight enough t'do this properly.

I'm handling it just fine.

Thanks. [Usually the people with the guns are pointing them at him, so this is a nice change of pace.]

I'm figuring you're not getting much in the way of information yet, if you're coming down here with me. Sounds like there's quite a few people on it, though, so it shouldn't be long.

[He's speaking quietly as they enter the tunnel- generally, this entrance is left alone. It's too high a traffic area, too big of a risk. It branches and he takes the left side without hesitation.]

Have you gotten any clues at all?

[Her voice is hushed as well, and she clicks on flashlight small enough to be held against the barrel of her gun.]

For once, we're lucky to have something like his happen during this kind of weekend. More eyes to help us look, but so far we're coming up empty.

[Trying to stay positive hasn't been working all that well for her so far, but actively looking helps. She's also quietly hoping she gets to kill her first monster, as well.]

Can't blame 'ow you're actin' on me. I ain't the one actin' like they're layin' an egg.

[He stops himself before he starts talking about how villains generally want recognition for their work and someone is likely to come forward soon. She knows that, and him saying it isn't exactly going to be a confidence booster. If they're lucky, maybe a monster is keeping her for a late meal or something, and they'll stumble across it.

Regardless, he has little to say now other than small talk, and Beckett does not seem the type of person who would appreciate that, especially now. So he continues to walking, pausing only to choose new paths, ones that will take them deeper. He's heading at least somewhat toward the Clock.

He does take a moment to turn back and make some noise, hoping it'll bring something out.]

By the way- thank you for trusting me, even a little bit.

[identity profile] cuffyoutwice.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
No, that would simply be the fact that my partner's daughter is missing and could be dead at this point.

Let me know if you find anything. I'll have my phone on me.

[identity profile] cuffyoutwice.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Beckett's experiences with kidnapping cases started off on the worst foot possible, in that the child was lost. She's used to having a distorted voice on the other end of a phone to direct her anger at; this instance has provided her with nothing, and she'd already been on edge before that. Talking about criminals and how crime is generally perpetrated would have only made her end up snapping at Sylar.

She's following, counts steps as best she can and making note of whatever little landmarks she can see. They're starting to cross the line that she's been unsure of going over during her patrols, and she's focusing on her surroundings rather than the conversation. Because of it, her response comes out with a little surprise.]

You're welcome? You've done nothing but help us since I met you, Mr. Sylar. While I might understand the situation you're in and I don't expect you to die for the force, you haven't shown me anything to distrust so far.

action

[identity profile] makes-you-tick.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Her response makes Sylar smile, a shy sort of smile directed at the ground. It crosses his mind that he has plenty of opportunity here to use that trust to his advantage if he needs to- and he does his best to squash that thought as soon as he notices it. He doesn't need to, and it's exactly that sort of thing that gets him in trouble.]

You aren't aware of how unusual it is that people would give me a chance, even with all that going for me. It means-

[He cuts himself off as he hears a skittering sound in front of them and somewhat to the right.] Ah- they've found us.

[His hand lights up as blue sparks dance across it, casting more light on the tunnel. It looks like there's two (or maybe three) large dog-sized things coming their way, but it's hard to make out exactly what they might be.]

action

[identity profile] cuffyoutwice.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
[She means to reply that while she might be used to putting guilty people away for good, sometimes there are those kinds that deserve a few chances. The ones who weren't as privileged as she was, they definitely deserved a little faith.

But then his hands are lighting up, and she's not sure what to make of it. No matter how much out of the ordinary she sees here, Beckett's not sure she'll ever really be used to it.]

They?

[Her flashlight isn't bright enough to let her see any detail, but she can see the large shapes. The clap of the barrel loading as she cocks the shotgun makes her feel only marginally better.] Oh. Silver going to do anything against them?

action

[identity profile] makes-you-tick.livejournal.com 2010-07-14 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[He holds his hand out farther, almost like a torch, as he tries to discern what they are. They seem crustacean, but with longer, pincer-like legs. They're moving very fast, and...apparently able to climb walls and ceilings. They seem to have very sharp-looking spikes of 'teeth' at the end of their beady-eyed heads.]

It would probably do about as well as anything else.

[He holds his hand out and the closest one actually stops for a moment, apparently hesitant. Sylar opens his fingers, and....the light continues to crackle. He frowns at his hand for a moment.]

[ooc: Here is a picture, if you really want to see the horrible things. D: Ugh, they're creepier than I remembered.]

action

[identity profile] cuffyoutwice.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
[She assumes he's trying to scare them off, so Beckett holds her fire under the assumption that an attack might provoke retaliation. To her, she can't imagine that they might be that cognitive, but she's not sure she can take chances down here.

Beckett steps up just behind Sylar when she doesn't see the beasts slow down and given another second of inaction, she starts to unload. An unfortunately inaccurate weapon, she's pretty much just spraying without regard to where the ugly things really are.]

Any time...!

[There is a moment she thinks she's just been brought down here under a ruse, but she still stands her ground in the hopes that it isn't, and that they'll continue looking for Alexis.]
